Barcelona turn to ex-Ronaldo agent after Man Utd refuse offer
Barcelona have reportedly given the green light to a proposal from Cristiano Ronaldo’s former agent Jorge Mendes for Wolves to sign Ansu Fati in a player-plus-cash deal. Barcelona are in need of clearing out some of their squad in the summer to free up some wages.
A deal to bring Lionel Messi back to the club is said to be a priority for Barcelona while they’re also set to make improvements elsewhere. It means Barcelona may have to get creative when it comes to striking deals in the summer.
Fati’s future at the Nou Camp is shrouded in doubt and had been attracting interest from a host of Premier League clubs. Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is said to be an admirer with the young Spaniard struggling to make an impression on Xavi this season.
According to Spanish outlet Sport, the 20-year-old’s preference is still to remain at Barcelona past this summer and fight for his place. But Barcelona are said to have instructed his agent, Mendes, to look at potential transfer destinations for the winger.
United were reportedly on the list of clubs Mendes approached to enquire about their interest in Fati, but they reportedly refused to make an offer. Instead, Mendes appears to have used his connections at Wolves to help construct a player-plus-cash deal.
It’s claimed that Wolves are willing to send Ruben Neves as well as £26.6million to bring Fati to Molineux. Barcelona are said to be happy with the proposed offer and would give the green light should all parties agree to it.

Mendes represents a number of players in Wolves’ squad including Neves, Adama Traore, Nelson Semedo, Daniel Podence and Jose Sa.
He also had a long-standing partnership with Portuguese superstar Ronaldo, only for that relationship to break down following the attacker’s move to Saudi Arabia.
Ricardo Regufe is said to have led negotiations for Ronaldo in his move to the Middle East as he and Mendes had reportedly fallen out.
