Sergio Aguero was forced off during Barcelona's clash with Alaves on Saturday night after appearing to have difficulty breathing.

The Argentinian striker went down four minutes before half-time at the Nou Camp in clear discomfort, meaning Barca's medical team rushed onto the field with a stretcher.

But fortunately it was not needed in the end, as Aguero soon returned to his feet and trudged off the field to be replaced by Philippe Coutinho after being treated by physios.

Barca were unable to break down the visitors in what proved a disappointing opening 45 minutes, which comes just a few days after they parted company with Ronald Koeman.

Koeman was dismissed after just 14 months in charge of there Catalans, paying the price for a miserable start to the season which had seen them take just 15 points from 10 La Liga matches.

They also suffered back-to-back 3-0 defeats in their opening two Champions League group-stage fixtures, while also losing last weekend's El Clasico against Real Madrid.

Wednesday's 1-0 defeat away at Rayo Vallecano proved the final straw, leaving Barca chiefs with no choice but to drop the axe.

After that shortcoming, Koeman said: "[Barcelona's league position] says we're not well.

"The team has lost balance in the squad, lost very effective players, which shows. In recent years other clubs have strengthened every season and we haven't, which also shows."
