Barcelona have reportedly tabled their first formal proposal for Atalanta defender Cristian Romero. The Argentine is hot property this summer and now the La Liga giants are determined to beat Tottenham in the race for his services.
Spurs have been in dialogue with the player and Atalanta for over a week now as they look to find a solution.
As it stands, they are offering around £6.8million below Atalanta’s asking price.
Negotiations remain ongoing though and the player is understood to be keen on joining Spurs.
He has already agreed a five-year deal with personal terms already finalised between the club and player.

Yet Tottenham have now been dealt a big blow by Barca, who are trying to hijack the deal from beneath their noses…
According to Italian journalist Gianluigi Longari, Barca have made their first offer for the player.
Money remains tight though in Catalonia, meaning it’s unclear whether Barca have the financial muscle to make the deal happen this summer.
Spurs are already well prepared if Barcelona manage to move ahead of them to sign Romero.
