Barcelona interim manager Sergi Barjuan has provided an update on the condition of striker Sergio Aguero after he was taken to hospital last week. The Argentine had only just returned from injury before he had to be replaced on Saturday night.
The former Manchester City striker collided with an Alaves player at the Camp Nou and then laid on the turf in a somewhat worrying fashion.
Aguero complained to medical staff who had rushed on to the pitch to assist him that he was experiencing pain in his chest and also felt quite dizzy, which explained the uneasy fashion to which he rose to his feet.
After a brief assessment, the 33-year-old was ruled unfit to play and was replaced by Philippe Coutinho.
Aguero was then taken to the nearby hospital for more rigorous testing, and media outlets in Spain claimed that the City hero had been diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat, though that is yet to be confirmed.

Speaking about the condition of his centre forward, Barjuan told the media: “Kun’s absence is very important,
“I spoke with him yesterday and he is calm. He is locked away in his room, but he is calm.”
The length of the ex-Atletico Madrid striker’s absence is unconfirmed, and it would be irresponsible for Barca to field the player whilst the cause of his chest pains are unknown.
The injury/illness to the no.19 shouldn’t leave Barjuan too short of numbers in the final third, however, it could prevent the Spanish interim from making a good impression to the board as he looks to stake his claim at being the permanent boss.

The former Barca continued to give updates on his squad ahead of Barcelona’s game against Dynamo Kyiv in the Champions League, he said: “All those called up are ready to play. It is a very important game for us and we have to be demanding with ourselves.
“Recovering players is important. It is an extra motivation for all, players who are decisive are good for the group and we must take advantage of them. Dembele has been away for a long time.”
Barca have struggled so far this season and consequently, former Everton manager Ronald Koeman was sacked last month.
The Dutchman couldn’t find a way to get the very best out of his talented squad and even when the team were victorious, the displays didn’t fill fans with confidence.
The Catalan club have struggled since they were forced to let academy product and six-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi leave the club before the start of the season due to financial reasons.
The Argentine had offered to take a 50% pay cut to remain at the Camp Nou but La Liga regulations did not allow that, but Barca president Joan Laporta claimed he hoped the player would stay and play for free, and Messi has hit back.
“I did everything possible to stay,” the PSG forward told Sport, “Never at any moment did they ask me to play for free.
“My desire and that of my family was to stay in Barcelona. No one asked me to play for free but at the same time, the president’s words were inappropriate. It hurt because I don’t think there was any need to say that.
“It’s like taking the ball off you and not accepting the responsibility or taking charge of things. That makes people think and generates all types of doubts that I don’t think I deserve.”
