Barcelona are reportedly eyeing a January swoop for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang amid uncertainty over the striker’s future at Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta came to the decision after he failed to report on time for a Covid test after travelling to collect his sick mother from France, which Sportsmail revealed compounded long-standing concerns inside the club about his suitability as captain.
With tensions seemingly high between Arteta and Aubameyang, the latter now appears likely to depart Arsenal when the January transfer window opens.
The Catalans are reportedly considering Aubameyang as a winter target amid their desire to add a new striker to their ranks for newly-appointed boss Xavi.

His precarious situation at Arsenal has alerted them, yet Manchester United’s Edinson Cavani is also believed to be on their radar.
One complication in a potential deal to take Aubameyang to the Nou Camp is his hefty salary, which is around £350,000 a week.
The Gabon international, who still has 18 months to run on his Arsenal contract, would not be prepared to accept a pay-cut, and given Barca’s financial constraints that is likely to prove an issue.
A swap deal involving Barcelona outcast Ousmane Dembele has been mooted
A swap deal involving Ousmane Dembele could be a solution, as Barca are keen to recoup some of the £96million they spent on the France winger before his deal expires next summer.
Aubameyang and Dembele are both in the same wage bracket of over £200,000-a-week, meaning it could make sense for both parties to negotiate an exchange at the turn of the year.
Nevertheless, Cavani may well prove an easier target for Barca to pursue given United’s host of options in attack this season.
