Baked beans and Jaffa Cakes set to fuel England flops at Qatar World Cup
England players will be fuelled by baked beans and Jaffa Cakes in our bid to win the World Cup for the first time since 1966. The Three Lions will be staying at the five-star Souq Al-Wakra Hotel when Gareth Southgate’s squad arrives at the tournament in Qatar, which kicks off in November.
They will be able to dine on the best meat and fish the complex has to offer – but there are some tastes of home the England camp cannot do without.
An England insider revealed: “The menus are handled like a military operation and are months in the planning – we have to make sure the hotel knows what we need. It was difficult to source some items when the team went to Russia four years ago – we even took our own teabags.

“The people in Qatar, however, are able to source pretty much everything. Yorkshire Tea, PG Tips, even the lads’ favourite chocolate. Gareth, inset, and the boys are hoping to be out there for a month.
“It’s about making them feel as comfortable as possible – even if eating baked beans and Jaffa Cakes might sound crazy in 35C heat.”

It is understood the hotel has been provided with a list of foodstuffs our lads love tucking in to. It includes hundreds of tins of baked beans to go with their protein-packed breakfasts, along with red and brown sauce.
Other condiments include English mustard and white wine vinegar. For refuelling purposes in training and at half-time, the likes of Jack Grealish and Harry Kane can snack on Jaffa Cakes for a quick energy boost.
It is understood England’s Souq Hotel, which has its own private beach, has recruited 40 new members of staff to ensure the players want for nothing. There will be a daily salad and pasta bar and all the squad will eat together during every meal.
Team England’s group of conditioners and nutrition experts have also ordered pallets of protein gels and isotonic drinks, plus factor 50 sunscreen. Our source added: “The hotel is just 20 minutes from the capital in Doha.
“There is table tennis, a dartboard and a couple of pool tables, nothing has been overlooked. Players know what they like and if they fancy a brew with their beans on toast, there is everything they need.”
