Atletico and PSG ready to pounce for Jordan Henderson as Liverpool talks stall
Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson's long-term future at the club has been thrown into doubt.
The Kop skipper's contract negotiations with the Anfield hierarchy have stalled early in the process.
Henderson, 31, is now waiting for talks to resume on extending his current deal which is set to expire in 2023.
But European big guns Atletico Madrid and Paris St-Germain are monitoring the situation closely.
Both would be ready to pounce if the England midfielder was to come available this summer or next year.
Henderson is keen to stay at Liverpool and a new deal would take him into the final years of his playing career.
But early negotiations over an extension have hit an impasse.
It has left Henderson's future in some doubt as all parties wait to re-open discussions in the coming weeks.
Kop boss Jurgen Klopp does not want to lose his captain, who has spent 10 years at the club and helped lead them to the Premier League title and Champions League in the last two years.
Should Liverpool do everything they can to keep Jordan Henderson long term? Let us know in the comments section.
Klopp has already lost Gini Wijnaldum on a free after his contract expired with the club unable to agree terms with the Dutch midfielder.
Club owners Fenway Sports Group don't want a repeat of that situation where Henderson could leave for nothing in two years.
But that means they must resolve the matter in the next 12 months or face having to sell their captain at the end of the upcoming season.
