Aston Villa handed boost in pursuit of McKennie whilst preparing Delaney offer

Despite already spending over £90million this summer, Aston Villa have not finished their business before the transfer window slam shuts next week.

Villa have spent £25m on Danny Ings (Southampton), £30m on Leon Bailey (Bayern Leverkusen), £38m on Emiliano Buendia as well as brought in Axel Tuanzebe (Manchester United) on loan and Ashley Young (Inter Milan) for free.

However, manager Dean Smith still wants to add a few more new faces to his squad before August 31.

The Midlands side are looking to bring in several reinforcements to not make the departure of captain Jack Grealish noticeable.

Grealish left for Manchester City earlier this month for £100m making him the most expensive British player in history which has provided his boyhood club with a significant budget for signings.

Here, Daily Star Sport brings you all the latest transfer talk from Villa Park.

Less competition for McKennie

Villa have been handed a major boost in their pursuit of Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie as rumoured competition Tottenham Hotspur are not interested.

It was reported that Juve were holding talks with the north London side and potentially swapping McKennie with Moussa Sissoko, but reports today have rubbished such claims.

Smith has been keen to bolster his midfield options this summer, with James Ward-Prowse of Southampton being pursued previously.

If Villa are willing to further their spending before the 31st then they will need to offer Juventus approximately £25m for McKennie, who is 22-years-old.

Dortmund set to receive offer for Delaney

Another midfielder that Villa have been linked with this summer is Borussia Dortmund’s Thomas Delaney, and they are set to make the Bundesliga side an offer for his services.

According to French news outletHomme du Match , Smith’s side are preparing an offer of £13m for Delaney, who is now no longer a regular starter for BVB.

The 29-year-old impressed at Euro 2020 whilst representing Denmark, however, his good form still hasn’t convinced manager Marco Rose who prefers the trio of Jude Bellingham, Mahmoud Dahoud and Giovanni Reyna.

Delaney’s contract at Signal Iduna Park runs out next year and it does not appear that either party are intent on keeping him past that point.

Villa handed boost by Everton's rejection

Everton have had a bid for Sheffield United striker Daniel Jebbison rejected, handing Villa the advantage in their pursuit of the young forward.

Rafael Benitez’ side offered £8m for the 18-year-old forward, however, according to TEAMtalk, the bid was turned down by the Blades and that they are willing to let go off the Englishman for a greater fee.

Jebbison only signed his professional contract with the South Yorkshire club on May 21, just five days after he scored on his first-ever Premier League start against Everton.

The Canada-born forward has quickly progressed through the ranks at Sheffield and is of keen interest to several clubs, including Villa, since his side’s 2020/21 relegation from the top-flight.

Now that Everton have had their bid rejected, it is expected to push other interested clubs to come forward with their offers for the exciting prospect.
