Borussia Dortmund are also in the hunt and are favourites to press ahead and secure a move for the United States international who impressed for the United States at the World Cup in Qatar.

McKennie’s representation reportedly spoke to Dortmund chiefs last month.

McKennie has previously played in the Bundesliga, having joined Juventus from Schalke back in 2021 having impressed over four seasons.

The midfielder has been a key player for the Binaconeri this season but could leave for £26m

Aston Villa, managed by Unai Emery, had been tracking Weston McKennie who has previously played for Schalke in Germany

He has largely featured in the Juve squad this term starting nine of the 12 matches he has been involved in Serie A, scoring once and providing a single assist.

He missed the Binaconeri’s last three matches before the World Cup though after pulling a muscle.

Despite featuring in the first team, Juventus could be keen on offloading McKennie given the club announced they had a loss of €254 million on their books back in September.

Since then the club have been hit by a scandal inolving the resignation of the club’s board of directors as the result of an investigation into inflated transfer values.
