New Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard is reportedly ready to raid former club Rangers for Ryan Kent, according to reports.

Gerrard is expected to be backed in the January transfer window and he wants to make former Liverpool starlet Kent his first signing, according to reports in Scotland.

Able to play on both wings or as a number 10, the 25-year-old has been a long-term target for Leeds.

But Gerrard wants a reunion with Kent, who he signed from Liverpool in a deal worth up to £7.5m in 2019.

The 22-year-old returned to Ibrox after a successful loan spell in which he won the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year award.

Liverpool are reported to have included a 20 per cent sell-on clause as they expected Kent to return to England and the Premier League.

Liverpool received a number of enquiries from foreign clubs, rejecting a £5m offer from Krasnodar, and there was interest in the player from France and Belgium.
