Arteta believes Brentford got away with hidden foul as Arsenal conceded goal
Mikel Arteta is fuming after Brentford's second goal was awarded despite what he has perceived as a foul on Bernd Leno.
It comes after Arsenal's shock 2-0 defeat to the Premier League new boys to put the Spaniard under pressure already.
The Bees outclassed their more illustrious foes in almost every department, pressing from the first minute and not giving the Gunners a moment's rest.
They fully deserved their lead when Sergi Canos smashed the ball past Leno to send the home fans into a frenzy.
Question marks are already starting over Arteta's tenure but the Arsenal manager has insisted Brentford's second goal should not have stood.
Christian Norgaard headed home to double their lead from a long throw-in but Leno was being grappled with as the ball came in.
Arteta said after the match: “They put somebody on the keeper they hold the keeper he cannot move, it’s a free-kick, it’s only allowed in the Premier League.”
There was also controversy earlier in the match when Canos scored as during Calum Chambers' clearance the ball crossed the line and should have been a corner.
But the Arsenal manager has insisted his side did not do enough to win the game despite the notable absences of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.
He added: "It’s extremely disappointing. We didn’t start well second half we conceded in an isolated action we didn’t cope with long-ball that’s all they need to create difficulty in a back line.
"We conceded a long throw which we know they can do. Not enough shots and if you don’t do that it’s difficult to win.
"I don't want to excuse this, I don’t want to hide. We weren’t good enough to beat them.
"We need more threat, we need to be much more ruthless and we weren’t tonight."
