- Boss Mikel Arteta will be keen to have him back to boost their league title charge
Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus is nearing a return from a long-term injury after being pictured on the grass.
The Brazilian star has been out for three months with a knee knock, his last game being in a 2-0 win against Wolves in November.
Jesus posted a picture of himself back on the pitch at Arsenal’s London Colney training ground, in the latest indication he could be back soon.
His post on Twitter, viewed more than 4.5million times and liked nearly 120,000 times, has the caption: ‘Step by step #hellomom #gratitude,’ with a muscle, hands raised in celebration and football emoji.
The news will come as a significant boost for boss Mikel Arteta’s title chasers – particularly following the Spaniard’s confirmation that Thomas Partey will miss their clash against Everton on Wednesday.

Jesus’ understudy Eddie Nketiah (left) has not scored for the Gunners since late January
A return for Jesus is not believed to be imminent, though carrying out training work on the training pitches is a positive step forward.
The Gunners are still two points clear of chasing second-placed side Manchester City, with a game in hand, but have struggled in their last six games.
Arteta’s men lost against City in the FA Cup, were beaten by relegation contenders Everton, drew with Brentford, lost against City again in the league, needed two stoppage-time goals to triumph against Aston Villa and edged past Leicester 1-0.
Jesus’ understudy Eddie Nketiah scored in his first two games after replacing Jesus in the team back in November but has not scored since a double against Manchester United in late January.
In that context, Spaniard Arteta could be keen for Jesus to return, having used Leandro Trossard – more naturally a left winger – up front in their last game against the Foxes.
Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey is still a doubt to start Arsenal’s crucial Premier League clash with Everton on Wednesday.
Arteta has admitted the 29-year-old ‘needs to get the rhythm’ after returning from his thigh injury.
He said: ‘He hasn’t trained much, he’s only had a session. He will train today so it is what it is. He was out for a few weeks and he needs to get the rhythm.’
