Arsenal’s five remaining transfer goals after Ben White medical early next week

Arsenal are close to completing the signing of Brighton defender Ben White for a £50m fee with a medical scheduled for the player on either Monday or Tuesday.

However, their transfer goals for this summer aren’t met yet, and they are expected to add a few more signings having already brought in Albert Sambi Lokonga from Anderlecht and Nuno Tavares from Benfica.

There are still five positions they may be looking to improve in, according to Athletic journalist David Ornstein.

Goalkeeper

Aaron Ramsdale has been close to a move to Arsenal from Sheffield United with Bernd Leno’s place in net no longer guaranteed.

Fans have been confused by this with many refusing to believe he is a major upgrade on Leno and the stark £30m fee that is reported being a slight concern too.

Other’s such as Ajax’s Andre Onana were linked too, but Ramsdale seems to be the one the Gunners will end up pursuing in this window.

No.10

In recent weeks, rumours surrounding a move for Leicester City’s James Maddison have intensified as Arsenal look for a creative midfielder.

They were also interested in a return for Real Madrid’s Martin Odegaard, but both moves will cost at least £40m, and the club may have to sell before they can buy.

Factor in Emile Smith Rowe’s recent contract extension and a transfer for a creative player may not be Arsenal’s top priority at the moment.

Striker

Once again, this may depend on the sale of Alexandre Lacazette, but there is firm interest in Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham from Arsenal.

Chelsea are open to a deal too as they look to fund a new forward for themselves – Abraham has rarely featured in Thomas Tuchel’s plans since he joined.

A deal could be struck through a loan with an obligation to buy at the end of the period as a permanent transfer this summer may cost up to £40m.

Right-back

Hector Bellerin could be on his way to Italy with Serie A champions Inter interested in the Spaniard, leaving the door open for Arsenal to bring in someone to replace him.

There have been a few players linked in recent weeks, with Denzel Dumfries high on the list, although Arsenal face competition from Everton for the Dutchman.

Other than that, there’s Norwich City’s Max Aarons and Lille’s Zeki Celik, who won Ligue 1 last season and should cost around £13m.

Holding midfielder

Ruben Neves is of interest to both Arsenal and Manchester United and could be on his way out of Molineux this summer.

From a defensive perspective, this could be a sensible deal as a £35m reported fee seems good on value too.

Other than Neves, Arsenal are also apparently looking at Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara for the position.
