Arsenal have made no indication that they will return with another bid to sign Houssem Aouar this summer, according to reports. Arsenal were strongly linked with a move to sign Lyon star Aouar last summer.

Arsenal saw at least one bid turned down by Lyon for Aouar.

However, the Gunners instead opted to sign Thomas Partey for £45million.

Aouar has again been linked with a move away from Lyon following the Ligue 1 side’s failure to qualify for the Champions League.

But it appears Arsenal are not readying a bid to sign the 22-year-old.

Football.london claim Arsenal have made no movement to suggest they will attempt to sign Aouar in the coming weeks.

Arsenal are in the market for an attacking midfielder and Aouar could fit that bill.

The France international scored seven goals and registered three assists in 30 Ligue 1 games for Lyon last term.

Arsenal were interested in signing Norwich City star Emi Buendia and had a bid of around £30m turned down by the Canaries.

However, Aston Villa have offered a better deal than the Gunners and are expected to complete a deal for the 24-year-old.

Arsenal’s top attacking midfield target is Real Madrid star Martin Odegaard.

Odegaard spent the second half of last season on loan at the Emirates and clearly made an impression on manager Mikel Arteta.

Arteta has made it clear he would like Odegaard to return to the club next season.

However, it remains to be seen if Real would entertain a loan or a permanent exit for the Norway star.

Odegaard still has two years remaining on his contract at Real, who have a new manager in Carlo Ancelotti.

“We have a very clear and strong opinion on what we would like to do,” Arteta said in May.

“He’s not our player. We will have discussions in the next few weeks. And respect first of all because he’s a Real Madrid player, and we will have those communications.

“We’ve tried to make everything that we could to get Martin performing for the team, which I think he’s done.

“And he’s adapted really well to our way of playing and to our football club. And hopefully we have given him as well the hope and the feeling that it could be a good place for him.”
