Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka sends optimistic title message after signing new contract

Bukayo Saka has committed his long-term future to Arsenal by signing a new contract. The England star has finally put pen to paper after months of discussions with club chiefs and has sent an optimistic message over his side’s future title chances.

Saka has penned a deal until 2027 with no option to extend. He has become one of the club’s highest-paid players and will earn around £15million a year in wages.

The 21-year-old has been one of the stars of the Premier League this season. He has scored 13 top-flight goals, with only Kevin De Bruyne registering more than his 11 assists.

Saka’s previous deal was set to expire at the end of next season so Arsenal were keen to tie him down to protect his value and also extend his stay. The Gunners failed in their attempts to win their first Premier League title in 19 years, despite being top for most of the campaign.

But Saka has sent a message to supporters, insisting there is plenty of time on his team’s side to get future success. Saka said in Arsenal’s announcement video: “Dreams don’t come true overnight. It takes time.

“This club has been a family to me since I was eight years old. It’s given me everything and I’ve given everything back. I know how much we can achieve together. Time is on our side.”

In a separate interview, Saka insisted Arsenal is the right place for him to continue his football. He said: “I’m just really happy.

“I think this is the right club, the right place to make the next step. It’s a beautiful club. For me, it’s about achieving my personal ambitions. I think I have everything I need to become the best player I can be.”

Arsenal sporting director Edu is excited about how the future will pan out for Saka. The Brazilian said: “It has been so enjoyable to work with everyone to extend Bukayo’s contract.

“It is a very proud moment for us all at the club, to work hard with Bukayo ad experience his great journey from our academy through to our first team. Bukayo has now developed into one of the best young players in the game and we’re looking forward to enjoying together this next stage of his career with us.”
