Arsenal’s Arteta gives honest opinion on Lampard after ‘reality check’

Arteta admits 'better team won' as Arsenal lose at Man City

Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta admits his side suffered a harsh reality check in their 4-1 thrashing at Manchester City last week. And he has provided his honest opinion on Frank Lampard as the Gunners aim to return to the Premier League summit against struggling Chelsea on Tuesday.

Arsenal host Chelsea at the Emirates, looking to end a woeful four-game winless run that has surrendered control in the Premier League title race.

But morale in north London won’t be as low as at Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea without a win in eight outings.

The Blues have lost all five games since Frank Lampard became interim boss at the start of April, dropping to 12th in the Premier League.

Arteta praised Lampard ahead of their meeting, though, and expects a competitive game against Chelsea.

He told reporters: “They are going to try to come to the Emirates to beat us. They have a great manager.”
