He was Mikel Arteta’s first ever signing at the Emirates and made the move permanent the following summer.
Mari spent the second half of last season in Italy on loan at Udinese, where he made 15 appearances.
He was also one of six people stabbed at a shopping centre in the Italian capital back in October.
Serie A champions Napoli were handed a surprise when they were beaten 2-0 by Monza thanks to goals from Dany Mota and Andrea Petagna.
Meanwhile, key defender William Saliba will be absent from Arteta’s side for the remainder of the season.
Saliba has been missing since mid-March after sustaining a painful injury to his lower back in the defeat to Sporting Lisbon.
