Arsenal urged to wreck Sheikh Jassim’s ‘dream’ Man Utd transfer plan
MLS All-Stars v Arsenal: Goalie Wars
Arsenal have been told that beating Manchester United to Sheikh Jassim’s ideal first signing of Neymar would be an “incredible move” for Mikel Arteta’s outfit. The Gunners have already landed Kai Havertz, Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber this summer and have not been afraid to splash the cash – while Neymar’s future at Paris Saint-Germain remains up in the air.
The Brazilian has been linked with a move away from PSG but it is unlikely that the Ligue 1 holders will want to lose Neymar, Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe in the same window so his future could be intertwined with Mbappe.
Neymar has been dubbed Jassim’s ‘dream’ first signing to kickstart his tenure at United, if he is successful in taking over from the Glazers. However, the current owners are dragging their feet on picking between Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe and questions remain over whether the club will be sold.
Former Arsenal forward Julio Baptista believes that Neymar can adapt to English football and thinks that the Emirates would be a suitable home for the 31-year-old, who may already have a potential partner in crime in the form of Gabriel Martinelli.

“I think it is unfair to say the Premier League would be too physical for Neymar,” Baptista told Gambling Zone. “French football is very physical and he’s made some incredible appearances there. For Neymar, Arsenal would be an incredible move because he needs a change in his life.
“He’s given his all for PSG but maybe they don’t give him what he needs. He needs something different. Players need to be happy. I haven’t spoken to him in a long time but a move would be the best thing for his career.

Arsenal’s new kit for 2023/2024 is a stylish twist on a classic as it reinvents that mid-1990s vibe. A truly modern-looking shirt with a homage to the past, the Nike kit also includes a nod to the club’s iconic Invincible’s side in the finer details while catching the eye with the lightning bolt motif
“Gabriel Martinelli is an incredible player and he had an amazing season and I think Neymar could play with him. When you have good players, you try to find the space in the team for all of them, but for sure Neymar is the kind of player you need to work around.
“You can put Neymar on the left-wing, in the middle or behind the striker. He can play in any position across the front-three, so can Martinelli. When people ask about fitting in players like Neymar, for me it’s rubbish. It depends on the players you have and the instructions you give them, he needs to know what they’re doing.”
Arsenal are likely to be in a more comfortable position to offer PSG and Neymar a suitable deal, as United are currently hampered in terms of their finances as a result of Financial Fair Play and the uncertainty surrounding the takeover process. Though there so far has been no indication that the Gunners wish to bring Neymar to north London, they have the potential to ruin Jassim’s transfer plans if they listen to Baptista’s advice.
