Arsenal’s embarrassing 2-0 loss away at Premier League newcomers Brentford last night has prompted fans and pundits alike to blast the club – with Jamie O’Hara ordering bosses to go on a transfer spending spree.
The Gunners fell 2-0 to a buoyant Bees side on their Premier League debut as the pressure continues to be piled on misfiring manager Mikel Arteta.
Goals from Sergi Canos and Christian Norgaard – who scored his first ever league goal for Brentford yesterday after 60 outings – signalled an opening day defeat for the Gunners.
Only Emile Smith-Rowe earned enough plaudits to avoid criticism as the Emirates Stadium outfit whimpered to yet another pathetic loss.
And with new signings Ben White and Albert Sambi Lokonga not doing themselves any favours with poor performances, it has called for pundit and ex-Arsenal youth player Jamie O’Hara to suggest they spend even more money.
Having already spent £72.5million on White, Lokonga and Nuno Tavares this summer, there may not be much more for Arsenal to spend.

But O’Hara has urged bosses to do whatever they can to improve the squad which looked like a relegation-bound side last night.
Speaking to talkSPORT, the ex-Arsenal and Spurs midfielder said of Arteta’s mismanagement: “Arsenal are cheap, they just wanted someone to come in. If they had anything about them, they would have gone for Carlo Ancelotti or Brendan Rodgers when they could.”
“They should sign Kieran Trippier, pay whatever they want – even if it is £30million,” O’Hara said.
“PSG need to get rid of some players; go and get Mauro Icardi up front and then go and get Ander Herrera in midfield!
“It looks like they’ve just signed Brighton’s second best centre-half.”
Arsenal undoubtedly need some strength in defence, but continue to be linked with attacking reinforcements.
Martin Odegaard and James Maddison have been linked with filling the No 10 berth, although given how well Smith-Rowe did with little service, that role shouldn’t be a priority.
Tammy Abraham has also been linked with the Gunners, but after witnessing last night’s horror show, the Chelsea striker is said to be considering a move to Jose Mourinho’s Roma instead.
And with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexander Lacazette missing last night’s game, it continues to get worse for Arsenal.
They will look to pick up their first points of the season next week against rivals Chelsea – whom many predict to win the league – potentially adding to Arteta’s woes.
