The Gunners have been waiting on a series of deals during the current window and now boss Mikel Arteta is hoping a breakthrough is finally set to be made.
Arsenal have relentlessly tracked Ukrainian winger Mykhalo Mudryk and at long last it appears that some form of breakthrough is being made.
London rivals Chelsea have expressed a strong interest, but the Shakhtar man has a clear preference to be playing his football at the Emirates stadium. The only stumbling block remains the huge fee.
Elsewhere Arteta is still keen to bolster his midfield ranks, with growing speculation linking the club to Sergei Milinkovic-Savic, who has long been tipped for a Premier League switch.
A host of other names are on the transfer radar at the Emirates, and it should not be ruled out that s surprise bid or two could be lodged between now and the end of the month.

Gunners set for surprise cash windfall
Arsenal are all about spending this month, and expect to finish January having parted with some serious millions.
But it’s not all angst and worry for Mikel Arteta, who could be set for a lavish cash injection that he wasn’t really expecting.
According to rapidly emerging reports in France, Arsenal’s forgotten man Matteo Guendouzi is subject to a bid from an un-named Premier League side.
Guendouzi, given his age and the fact he still remains in contention with the France national team, is valued in the region of £30-35million, which could provide a financial boost at exactly the right moment for Arteta.
Mudryk latest
Everything about the Mykhalo Mudryk deal suggests that it is going to be a rather late, spur of the moment transfer.
On paper it all seems rather simple; Arsenal love the player, Mudryk is desperate for the move and the fanbase can’t wait for it to be rubber-stamped.
Shakhtar however are dragging their heels. The Ukraine club know they have a top assest who they have invested so much time and effort into.
The rough figure sits at £88m, and Arsenal are now reported to be solely invested in pulling off the transfer after surrendering their pursuit of Joao Felix to London rivals Chelsea.
Chelsea had also been in talks with Mudryk, but the breakthrough with Felix now seems to have shifted all momentum.
