Arsenal transfer latest including Luiz contract and Ferdinand’s Willock advice
Arsenal could have a very busy summer transfer window, with Mikel Arteta's squad in need of some serious improvements ahead of next season.
The Gunners boss is expected to target a top class attacking-midfielder, while he could also do with cover for Kieran Tierney, a new goalkeeper to rival Bernd Leno and potentially a new striker.
Who Arteta is able to sign could depend on developments regarding Spotify founder Daniel Ek and speculation he could launch a takeover bid along with club legends Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Patrick Vieira.
Stan Kroenke maintains that he has no intention of selling the Gunners – but it remains to be seen what the future holds after protests from supporters against his ownership last week in light of the botched Super League plans.
Here, Mirror Sport brings you the latest transfer gossip from around the Emirates.
Ferdinand advises Arteta over Willock
Rio Ferdinand has urged Arteta to give Joe Willock more game time next season after his impressive loan spell at Newcastle.
Young midfielder Willock was sent up to the Toon for the rest of the season having failed to break into the first team regularly.
However, having scored three goals in his last three Premier League games off the bench, Ferdinand insists there is something about him that Arsenal need.
“You know what, I like Joe Willock,” he told FIVE.
“He’s someone at Arsenal that I would have kept. He’s a good young player. If Arsenal don’t take him back and have him around that squad… I don’t know, man.
“I really like him and I like his personality. He’s not shy to come on the big stage and play and perform.
“‘And the last three goals he’s scored have been massive goals for Newcastle. It shows he’s got the temperament.”
David Luiz contract latest
David Luiz is all set to leave Arsenal this summer with the club still yet to open contract negotiations with the Brazilian.
The 34-year-old has often been a symbol of controversy at the Emirates Stadium, but has been a loyal servant to the Gunners since making the surprise swap from Chelsea almost two years ago.
According to the Evening Standard though, it looks like his time in north London will be coming to an end, with contract talks not on the table.
That being said, the reason for the delay might be because Luiz has been absent for over a month due to a knee injury that required minor surgery to repair.

Zinedine Zidane had a chat with Martin Odegaard back in January about his lack of first team chances, and he remains an important part of their plans, according to AS.
It is suggested that Zidane had a conversation with the player prior to his Arsenal move, pleading for patience about his lack of opportunities.
Despite his temporary move, the report adds that Los Blancos do not even want to hear offers for him and have no intention of facilitating a sale.
Asked about his long-term future, the 22-year-old admitted he would like to break into the Real side, but is enjoying his time at the Emirates.
"Yes, as I have said many times when you sign there, the goal is always to play there. It is of course a big dream," Odegaard told TV2.
"But at the same time I am in a nice club and am very happy where I am now. So I am very happy with the situation as it is now."
