Arsenal tickets on sale for £53,000 as fans fume ahead of title run-in

Arsenal's next six Premier League fixtures

Tickets for Arsenal’s match against Wolves on the last day of the season are selling for up to £53,000 online, with supporters dreaming of watching their side lift the Premier League title. The Gunners are eight points clear at the top of the table, with many feeling that it is their title to lose at this stage.

With just 10 games left of the season, Manchester City are hoping that Mikel Arteta’s side will crumble under the pressure in the title run-in. They have one game in hand over the north London side and are beginning to look like they have found their rhythm at a crucial part of the season.

Pep Guardiola’s side are also still in the Champions League and the FA Cup, though they will be relying on their squad depth to step up when it matters most. However, Arsenal supporters appear to be confident that they will not throw away their lead at the top of the table, based upon what some fans may be forced to pay for tickets.

It has been reported previously that being able to attend home matches has become increasingly tricky for the north London faithful, with an ever-increasing fan base as well as ticket bots meaning that any spare seats are snapped up in seconds.

Tickets for the last match of the season were released for sale by the Gunners earlier this month, and they appeared on touting websites in a flash. Companies swept up any spares that were available and have put them online for mega prices to gain a healthy profit.

Some tickets were spotted online being made available for up to £53,000 when their face value was just £41.50. Others were also being marked up by thousands despite not being in the lower stands, leaving fans furious at not being given the chance to potentially witness their team end their 19-year league trophy drought.

Arsenal revealed that they will be implementing a new sales technique next season to try and avoid ticket touts from making life difficult for the everyday fan, releasing a statement in February that read: “We will also be ramping up our ongoing work and investment to clamp down on ticket touting to protect honest match-going supporters.

“We recognise the demand for tickets is at unprecedented levels and we have been working to combat the activities by bots and touts. This has resulted in 100,000 suspected bots being blocked from the ticketing site in recent weeks. A significant number of season ticket and membership accounts have also been banned for suspicious touting activity.”
