Arsenal can fulfil one of Dusan Vlahovic’s main requirements for his next club, according to reports. Arsenal are pushing to sign the Fiorentina striker in this transfer window. The Gunners have serious doubts over the future of three current forwards, so are looking to the market for replacements.

Vlahovic has been in stunning form in front of goal for Fiorentina again this season, scoring 16 goals in 19 Serie A appearances this term.

He equalled Cristiano Ronaldo’s all-time record of 33 for most goals in a calendar year in the Italian top flight in 2021.

So his signing would be some coup for the Gunners.

Vlahovic’s contract at Fiorentina is set to expire in 18 months’ time and he has rejected all offers of a renewal.

Therefore he would likely be available at a cheaper price in the summer if he were not to sign an extension by then.

But CBS Sports claims Arsenal are keen to do a deal in this window.

There are ongoing uncertainties over the futures of Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah who are both out of contract in the summer, with the latter linked with a move away this month.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be allowed to leave following his much-publicised falling out with manager Mikel Arteta.

Earlier this week, Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport claimed Arsenal had made an offer of around £46m plus Lucas Torreira for Vlahovic.

The north London club are also interested in Real Sociedad striker Alexander Isak.

But CBS Sports says Vlahovic is the preferred target for the Gunners.

Juventus are set to provide serious competition for Vlahovic’s signature.

Vlahovic will not join a club who cannot offer regular European football.

Arsenal tick that box despite failing to qualify for Europe last term.

This is the first season Arsenal have not been in continental competition in 25 years.

The Gunners have not played Champions League football since 2017.

But they currently sit fourth in the Premier League table with just under half of their games remaining.

Fiorentina are set to sign Hertha Berlin striker Krzysztof Piatek on loan until the end of the season.

But the Poland international is not a direct replacement for Vlahovic.

Vlahovic recently stated he was happy to stay at Fiorentina for the remainder of the season but admitted things can change quickly.

He told Politika: “I have stated this several times so far. A beautiful football story is being made here in Florence.

“We have a good team, great football players, great support from the fans. It all deserves respect.

“Only God knows what will happen in the next period. My wish is to bring Fiorentina to Europe, because we have not been in Europe for a long time.

“I don’t know what can happen overnight. We’ll see.”
