  • However, he is believed to be ‘100% focused’ on Arsenal for now

Arsenal technical director Edu is reportedly attracting interest from multiple clubs in Europe.

The 44-year-old, who also played for Arsenal between 2001 and 2005, took up his role at the Emirates Stadium in 2019, and has played a significant role in transforming the club’s fortunes.

His work has not gone unnoticed, and journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that clubs are interested in trying to tempt him away from the Gunners.

Technical director Edu has helped transform Arsenal’s fortunes during the last three years

Edu has worked closely with Mikel Arteta since he was appointed manager in December 2019

‘More than two European clubs are showing interest in Arsenal director Edu as he’s doing huge job – it’s true that his name has been discussed internally,’ Romano tweeted on Tuesday.

However, he then added that Edu’s head is yet to be turned, and that the Brazilian remains a valued member of the Arsenal setup.

‘Edu’s only 100% focused on Arsenal project & club see him as key figure,’ Romano wrote.

Having re-joined the club as a director in July 2019, Edu endured a difficult start in his position as manager Unai Emery was sacked just four months later.

Mikel Arteta was brought in to replace Emery, and won the FA Cup in his first season, but Arsenal could only finish eighth in 2019-20 and 2020-21.

Edu helped the club sign Gabriel Jesus (R) and Oleksandr Zincehnko (L) this summer

Edu has started to prove his worth since then, though, with Arsenal making a number of eye-catching signings in the last two summer transfer windows.

The club brought in exciting young players such as Martin Odegaard, Ben White and Aaron Ramsdale last year, and came desperately close to finishing in the top four in 2021-22.

They spent big again in the most recent transfer window, signing Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City.

The north London outfit have since made a very positive start to the campaign, winning nine of their first 10 league games to open up a four-point lead at the top of the table, with the new additions to the squad that Edu brought in contributing to the team’s success.
