Arsenal target Martin Odegaard’s agent ‘arrives in London’ to seal Gunners loan
Arsenal could be about to secure a season-long loan deal with Real Madrid for Martin Odegaard after Carlo Ancelotti left him out of the squad for their La Liga opener.
The Norway captain looked set to play a key role at the Bernabeu following a positive spell at the Emirates, but their talented midfield options have already kept him out of the team.
In addition, Real Madrid were initially said to be open to a permanent exit rather than a loan for the 22-year-old, but financial constraints could push them towards another temporary exit.
Should the Gunners get a deal over the line, it would come as a big positive for Mikel Arteta following their dismal display in their 2-0 defeat to Brentford on Friday.
According to The Mirror, Odegaard's agent, a representative for Nordic Sky, arrived in London on Sunday in a bid to get a deal over the line before the Premier League transfer window closes at the end of the month.
The deal is said to include an option to buy for around £30million, which could be funded in part by Joe Willock's £25m move to Newcastle at the weekend.
Odegaard has another two years on his contract in Spain, but was left without a squad number after Rodrygo was handed his No 21 shirt following his first-team push.

After leaving him out of the playing squad to take on Alaves at the weekend, Ancelotti said of the playmaker: "The situation with Odegaard is like with Jesus Vallejo, it's down to where we are right now, we can't register all of them.
"Tomorrow [Saturday] that could change. We have until September 2 to make the final decision.
"I've told Odegaard that there are eight players in his position, but it's not final. I had to choose."
Arteta said of Odegaard back in May: "Well we have a very clear and strong opinion on what we would like to do. He's not our player.
"We'll have discussions in the next few weeks, but first of all we need to respect that he's a Real Madrid player. We'll have those communications.
"We've tried to make everything that we could to get Martin performing for the team, which I think he's done, and he has adapted really well to our way of playing and to our football club."
