Arsenal target Ivan Fresenda could still leave Real Valladolid on transfer deadline day – despite the LaLiga side being keen to keep hold of the right-back for the rest of the season.

Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund have been tracking the 18-year-old throughout the transfer window after his impressive performances so far this campaign.

Both clubs are said to have agreed a £13million deal for the youngster, with the defender set to be loaned back to Valladolid for the remainder of the season as part of deals.

Real Valladolid are reportedly still open to selling right-back Ivan Fresneda during the window

Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund have been tracking the 18-year-old throughout the window

Earlier this week the right-back missed training at club’s base in the country’s north-west, with reports citing he was ‘absent with discomfort’ before he was then also left out of the matchday squad against Valencia on the weekend.

Numerous reports have since stated that he would remain at Valladolid during the January transfer window, although the Spanish side were prepared to lose the youngster suggesting a move could still be on the cards.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has also posted that Fresneda’s situation is one to watch out for on transfer deadline day.

He posted: ‘Ivan Fresneda situation. Real Valladolid, convinced to keep the player on Monday – but there could be some change in the final hours of the market as clubs are still trying to reach an agreement now for season 23/24.

‘One to follow until the end of the day.’

It comes after the player himself denied that he was leaving the club, by saying via The Metro: ‘No, I’m not leaving, calm down.’

Fresneda has become a regular fixture in Jose Rojo Martin’s side since September, chalking up 12 appearances across all competitions.

The right-back suffered a minor hamstring injury in October, which saw him miss LaLiga clashes against Espanyol, Celta Vigo and Real Sociedad.

Fresneda would provide boss Mikel Arteta with additional long-term options at right-back

He has also appeared for Spain’s U18 and U19 teams, and has four caps for the latter.

The Gunners are set to let Cedric Soares finalise a deal with Fulham, so a swoop for Fresneda would provide Mikel Arteta with additional long-term options at full-back.

So far in this window Arteta has been able to add Leandro Trossard to his attack after his arrival from Brighton, as well as central defender Jakub Kiwior from Spezia.

They are also keen to go back to the Seagulls in their pursuit for midfielder Moises Caicedo. Arsenal had a £60 million bid turned down by the south coast club last week, and a second bid of £70million was rebuffed on Sunday evening.

The Ecuadorian has already signalled his intent to leave Brighton by posting a statement on social media where he asked if to ‘take up magnificent opportunity’.
