Arsenal sponsor in 'urgent talks' with club over Mohamed Elneny's Palestine post
One of Arsenal’s sponsors, the Lavazza Group, are planning to contact the club over Mohamed Elneny’s pro-Palestine post.
Earlier this week, the Arsenal midfielder showed his support for Palestinians who have been killed and forced to flee their homes in Gaza due to the conflict with Israel with a series of pictures on his Instagram and Twitter accounts.
Alongside a picture of the Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem, Elneny wrote: ‘My heart my soul, my support for you Palestine.’
‘Palestine Lives Matter’ was also written at the bottom of one of Elneny’s images.
But the Lavazza Group, who have been Arsenal’s official coffee partner since 2018, say that Elneny’s post is ‘totally not aligned’ with its values.
When contacted by Tal Ofer, a member of The Board of Deputies of British Jews, Lavazza Group said: ‘We’ll immediately reach out to Arsenal to remark we are concerned about the club associated with such a message.
‘The content of this post is totally not aligned with our company values. Lavazza Group is fully committed against racism and antisemitism.’
