Arsenal set to sell Ainsley Maitland-Niles to Roma following crunch talks between the player and Mikel Arteta – as loan deal with option to buy is tabled by Jose Mourinho’s side

  • Ainsley Maitland-Niles will be cleared to leave Arsenal for Roma this month
  • The youngster has been in and out of the team under boss Mikel Arteta
  • Showdown talks between the manager and player took place earlier this week
  • Roma will offer a loan deal for the starlet with the option to buy in the summer

Arsenal star Ainsley Maitland-Niles’s move to Roma has moved significantly closer with the north London club set to reach an agreement for the England international’s exit this month.

Sportsmail reported on Monday that the England international was due to hold talks with head coach Mikel Arteta this week to inform the Spaniard of his intention to leave this month.

The Italian club have submitted a loan offer for the 24-year-old, with an option to buy the Arsenal academy graduate in the summer.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles is poised to finally get his move away from Arsenal and join Roma

Arsenal are set to respond to Roma’s offer in the next 24 hours with a view to sealing their academy graduate’s exit.

While there is no final agreement yet the deal is headed in the right direction.

Maitland-Niles wants to join Roma, and if Arsenal pull the plug on the deal at the last minute he will choose to stay in north London.

The youngster has been in and out of the team under Mikel Arteta and wishes to move on

That scenario would see him enter the final 12 months of his contract leaving Arsenal in danger of losing Maitland-Niles for nothing next year.

But it now appears Maitland-Niles is set to get his wish of a move to Roma, who are managed by Jose Mourinho.
