Arsenal have released an injury update on their squad ahead of this weekend’s match with Burnley. The Gunners will look to continue their rise up the Premier League, having beaten Norwich last Saturday in a bottom of the table clash.
Arsenal have released a list of players who are set to miss out in Saturday’s trip to Burnley.
The Gunners will look to pick up where they left off against Norwich, having climbed off the bottom of the Premier League table with a 1-0 win over the Canaries.
Burnley have picked up just one point from their opening four league games, but a visit to Turf Moor is notoriously difficult against Sean Dyche’s side.
The Gunners will also be without three first team stars – and the club’s official website have issued an update on those who will miss out.
JUST IN: Arsenal and Tottenham could ruin Chelsea’s January transfer plans
Swiss midfielder Granit Xhaka is suspended for the game against the Clarets after being sent off against Manchester City.
The 28-year-old will serve the second of his three-match ban, but will be available the following week as the Gunners take on Wimbledon in the Carabao Cup next Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Rob Holding is still recovering with a knee injury, having sustained heavy bruising to his right knee while training for the game against Norwich.
It is understood that the defender is back in training, but will not be fit for the trip to Lancashire.
Finally, Mohamed Elneny is not yet back in full training after picking up a hamstring problem.
It is thought he will be back to full fitness next week, meaning he could feature against Wimbledon.
One player who is also struggling with injury is Reiss Nelson, who joined Dutch side Feyenoord for the season on loan late in last month’s transfer window.
Nelson is yet to make his debut for the Dutch side and missed their Europa Conference League opener against Maccabi Haifa on Tuesday evening due to a knock.
And Feyenoord manager Arne Slot suggested that he had picked up the blow because his sessions are more intense than Arteta’s.
“Nelson had participated in almost all training sessions at Arsenal, but he experiences the training here as a bit more intense,” Slot told reporters.
“He suffered an overuse injury and so he is not here. Whether he will make it to PSV [Feyenoord’s next Eredivisie fixture on Sunday] remains to be seen, at least not as a starting player.”
