Arsenal REJECT Besiktas' £2million offer to sign Rob Holding

Arsenal REJECT Besiktas’ £2million offer for Rob Holding despite signing defender Jurrien Timber for £40million from Ajax

  • Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have rejected a bid from Besiktas for defender Holding
  • The Gunners signed Timber from Ajax to reinforce their backline
  • Holding saw a decrease in minutes last season and faces more competition now

Arsenal have rejected Besiktas’ £2million bid for defender Rob Holding.

The news comes as it was previously reported that the bid was set to be rejected by Arsenal despite Holding not being in Mikel Arteta’s long-term plans.

While it’s unclear if Holding himself would be keen on the move, he wasn’t involved in Arsenal’s opening pre-season game against Nurnberg on Thursday.

He did, however, play in a behind-closed-doors game earlier this month.

But Arsenal have now rejected Besiktas’ bid for the defender despite signing Jurrien Timber to strengthen their defence.

Besiktas have made signing Holding a priority this summer but have seen a bid rejected

It remains to be seen as to whether Besiktas will return with an improved bid for the defender this summer.

It is unlikely that he will be given any assurances over his game time with the new arrivals.

Holding fell behind Jakub Kiwior last season after being unable to impress in William Saliba’s absence as the Gunners finished second in the Premier League table.

While Besiktas are interested in the Englishman, it remains to be seen as to whether they will improve their offer and tempt the Gunners into a sale.
