Arsenal ‘readying’ a move for Lingard, Odegaard update, and Torreira’s absence

Mikel Arteta is still looking to add to his Arsenal squad just days before the new Premier League season gets underway.

The Gunners have been one of the most active sides in the transfer market this summer, and Arteta has secured deals for Ben White, Nuno Tavares, and Albert Sambi Lokonga.

And the Spaniard hasn't shown any signs of letting up with new names linked to the Emirates daily.

Arteta is still looking for a playmaker to replace Martin Odegaard, who was on loan last season but also remains interested in the Norwegian.

And Daily Star Sport has the latest news from the Emirates.

Readying move for Lingard

Arsenal look set to move on from their pursuit of James Maddison, and Arteta is readying a move for Manchester United's Jesse Lingard, according to football.london.

The Red Devils valued Lingard around £25million, meaning he's a cheaper target than Maddison.

However, United may have cold feet about selling Lingard to a direct rival.

All in for Odegaard

Odegaard impressed in North London last season, and he reminded a lot of football fans as to why he was cheesy-picked by Real Madrid as a 16-year-old.

However, he has struggled under Carlo Ancelotti and he has reportedly fallen beneath Isco in the Madrid pecking order.

Spanish outlet AS are reporting that Arteta is keeping in regular contact with Odegaard and he is doing 'everything possible' to bring him back to North London.

Lucas Torreira, who spent last season out on loan at Atletico Madrid, is yet to return to Arsenal training for the new campaign.

The Gunners have been looking to relieve the Uruguayan of his services, however, they have failed to generate interest for the midfielder.

And Torreira is still in Spain waiting to return to England after travelling from Uruguay, which is on the UK's red list – meaning he would have to quarantine for ten days.
