Arsenal ‘plan to use Havertz in five positions’ as Edu to make new Chelsea bid

Arsenal have reportedly told Kai Havertz they are prepared to play him in five different positions. The Gunners are set to make a second bid for the Chelsea star after the first offer was rejected last week.

Havertz has emerged as a surprise target for Arsenal this summer. Like the majority of the Chelsea squad, the German had a poor campaign domestically.

He was the Blues’ joint-top goalscorer in all competition but a tally of just nine goals shows how much his team struggled. Havertz is about to enter the final two years of his Chelsea contract.

Chelsea are prepared to sell if he is not keen on signing an extension. ESPN claims Havertz has no intention of increasing the length of his current deal.

Arsenal’s new kit for 2023/2024 is a stylish twist on a classic as it reinvents that mid-1990s vibe. A truly modern-looking shirt with a homage to the past, the Nike kit also includes a nod to the club’s iconic Invincible’s side in the finer details while catching the eye with the lightning bolt motif

The west London club want up to £70million for the 24-year-old but are now said to be under pressure to lower their demands. Arsenal’s initial offer was knocked back but the report says they are set to return with a new proposal.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is claimed to be playing a big part in negotiations. He is said to have told Havertz where he plans to use him if he does complete a move to the Emirates.

He spent the majority of this season as Chelsea’s main striker option. ESPN says the No 9 slot is one position Arteta would be prepared to play Havertz.

He would also be open to using him on the right or left of the attack, as well as at No 10 and No 8. Arteta is said to be attracted to Havertz due to his versatility.

Havertz is open to making the move across London, three years after joining Chelsea from Bayer Leverkusen. He will always be remembered by Blues supporters as the player who scored the only goal in the 2021 Champions League final win over Manchester City.

Bayern Munich have been linked with Havertz. Chelsea hope increased interest in the player will drive up the price they can get for him.

However, Arsenal have made it clear in recent transfer windows they are not prepared to overpay for players. The same report says there is some surprise that Chelsea value Havertz as high as £70m.

He has yet not been able to fulfil the potential many expected from him when he joined. Chelsea are keen to bring in funds before June 30 to decrease the damage of missing out on European qualification following a spending spree of over £600m in the last two windows.
