Arsenal move for Odegaard back on with Gunners ‘ready to pounce’

Arsenal are ready to pounce for Martin Odegaard this summer with a move to the Emirates back on.

It comes after the Norway international impressed Mikel Arteta during his short stint on loan from Real Madrid.

The Gunners coach is a massive fan of the playmaker and is still looking for someone to fill the void in his Arsenal side.

Odegaard has always been a top target of his, though his situation at Real Madrid drastically changed when Zinedine Zidane left at the end of the season.

With Carlo Ancelotti in charge, the former Everton manager had made plans for the 22-year-old to be in his first-team.

However, Real are now looking to offload their fringe players to bolster their transfer kitty.

They are also looking to trim their wag bill as well, which will come as good news to Arsenal.

According to the Athletic, Arteta is ready to pounce for Odegaard with an opportunity arising this summer.

And it comes after the midfielder admitted that he had no idea what lie ahead in the future while he was still at Arsenal.

“To be honest, I don’t know what is going to happen," he told talkSPORT in May.

“I’m focused to finish the season well, then I have some games with the national team and then after that we’ll see what happens and sit down and talk.

“I’m owned by Madrid so will have to talk to them and see what they think and then we can decide together about the future.

“At the moment, I don’t know what is going to happen.”

Arsenal mean business this summer and have moved quickly to land their top targets with Nuno Tavares already at the club after joining from Benfica.

A deal has been agreed to sign Ben White and Albert Sangi Lokonga as Arteta looks to build his own squad.
