Arsenal make Real Madrid transfer contact over Martin Odegaard loan

Arsenal are in talks with Real Madrid over a loan deal for Martin Odegaard. Mikel Arteta is keen to improve his Gunners squad in the January transfer window, especially after seeing Mesut Ozil depart for Fenerbahce. And they could be about to do business with the La Liga giants again, having already struck a loan deal for Dani Ceballos twice.

Arsenal have seen Emile Smith Rowe sparkle for the Gunners in the No 10 role of late.

But, despite that, Arteta knows he needs more creativity if his side are to climb up the Premier League table following an inconsistent start to the campaign.

Ozil’s move to Fenerbahce was rubber-stamped earlier this week, with the Germany international departing after seven-and-a-half years in north London.

And Sky Sports’ Paul Gilmour has claimed Arsenal are now in talks with Madrid over a loan deal for Odegaard.

“Exclusive: #AFC make approach to Real Madrid for Martin Odegaard. Madrid considering. Arteta big fan & Odegaard keen on regular first team football. Not a given, other interest in him,” he said on Twitter.
