Arsenal lodge second Mykhaylo Mudryk bid and are ‘optimistic’ deal will get done
Arsenal have lodged a second bid for Mykhaylo Mudryk and are "optimistic" the deal will get done.
The Gunners have been strongly linked with the Ukrainian winger in recent weeks and are now stepping up their pursuit following the start of the January transfer window. According to CBS Sports' Ben Jacobs, a second bid has now been submitted, although, the total package currently remains below £62million in value.
The report adds Arsenal are confident they can complete the deal for far less than Shakhtar Donetsk's public valuation of £88.5m, with the structure of the deal proving to be key. Shakhtar reportedly want at least £49m up front.

Shakhtar are set to begin a training camp in Turkey on January 10, however, it is understood that any deal would not be held up if Mudryk was included in the squad for the trip.
The Evening Standard add Arsenal's opening bid of £55m was used as a way of kicking off talks with Shakhtar. At present, Mikel Arteta's side are the only club in talks over a transfer, with representatives from both parties in regular dialogue.
Some Arsenal fans are even convinced that Mudryk has already arrived in the UK after he posted a picture of himself in the gym to his Instagram.

The 21-year-old has been increasingly linked with Arsenal in recent weeks, with a host of Premier League side also reported to be interested in signing him this season.
Chelsea, Manchester United and Newcastle United are all said to have been tracking Mudryk, but it is the Gunners who now lead the race for his signature.
Mudryk has been in fine form for Shakhtar this season, scoring 10 goals and providing eight assists in 18 appearances across all competitions, including three goals in the Champions League group stage.
He would be a welcome addition to Arsenal's Premier League title push, with Arteta's side now seven points clear at the top of the table after Saturday's 4-2 victory away to Brighton & Hove Albion.
