Arsenal legend David Seaman showed his growing bond with current goalkeeper with Aaron Ramsdale is growing ever stronger after turning up for a training session.

The current No 1 – who joined in a £24million deal this summer – was involved in a playful jibe at the former goalkeeper after playing a starring role in the Gunners’ 3-1 north London derby victory against Tottenham at the weekend.

But the 58-year-old has now been spotted all smiles with his goalkeepers gloves on after joining in with training at London Colney on Tuesday with Mikel Arteta’s men, who are back in action against Brighton on Saturday.

The 58-year-old Gunners legend won two Premier League titles and four FA Cups with the club

It comes just a few days after the pair delivered a hilarious post-match interview at the Emirates Stadium after the current Gunners side made it three top-flight wins on the bounce.

Asked by the presenter on if he watched Seaman – who won two Premier League titles and four FA Cups at the club – when he was younger, Ramsdale, 23, joked: ‘I’m not that old!’

The former Sheffield United keeper then continued, adding he was frustrated at conceding to Son Heung-min: ‘I’d have loved to have kept a clean sheet, I’m a bit annoyed at myself for the goal.

‘If I keep my body weight forward I think I save it and it goes round the post.

And he was all smiles with the £24m summer signing in training on Tuesday at London Colney

‘But this place was rocking today, the strikers were excellent, defenders were excellent, I’m buzzing off this. This is one hell of a day and hopefully every time we play them it’ll be like this.’

‘To be honest I was cramping in my calves for about 20 minutes, I must have had four energy gels so I’ll be wide awake for ages.

Speaking about his fine save from Lucas Moura’s deflected shot, the England goalkeeper added: ‘We’ve been priding ourselves on defending, Ainsley [Maitland-Niles] has tried to get a block on it, managed to get a deflection which has probably not helped.

‘I’ve managed to spring and get a hand to it and thankfully its come off the bar and reliable [Takehiro] Tomiyasu has cleared it and we’ve come away with only one goal against it and three points.’

Ramsdale starred for Mikel Arteta’s men in their north London derby victory against Tottenham

Seaman showed support for Ramsdale’s signing even before he had joined, likening it to the situation he found himself in when he joined the club in 1990 and his battle with former goalkeeper John Lukic.

‘There’s a lot of similarities to when I joined Arsenal. I was England’s No.3 at the World Cup in 1990, Ramsdale has done the same,’ Seaman told talkSPORT last month.

‘I started getting a load of stick because the fans didn’t want me. They were all singing ”Lukic is better than Seaman” and ”You’ll never play for Arsenal”.

‘There are some similarities and hopefully he will go on to have a very good career at Arsenal.

‘He’s still learning, you can see that. Will he walk into the team? I don’t think so. I think what he’s got to do is get in training, impress the manager and get the respect of the lads as well.’

Seaman insisted there were plenty of similarities between him in 1990 and Ramsdale now
