Arsenal fans think youngster "destined for greatness" after incredible free-kick

Arsenal fans have been left believing youngster Salah-Eddine Oulad M’hand is “destined for greatness” following his fantastic free-kick against Newport County in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday.

Arsenal U-21s were drawing the game 1-1 when Salah-Eddine stepped up and scored a spectacular free-kick from distance to put the Gunners ahead in the group stage fixture.

Salah-Eddine's right-footed strike looped over the wall with pace and precision, leaving Newport goalkeeper Nick Townsend with no chance.

Football London chief Arsenal reporter took to Twitter and said: "Salah-Eddine.. remember the name" accompanied by a fire emoji.

In response one fan tweeted: "This kid is a clone between Nasri & Suarez…destined for greatness."

Another said: “We have so much talent coming through! Amazing stuff.”

The Gunners eventually ran out 4-3 winners at Rodney Parade thanks to a stoppage time winner from Charles Sagoe Junior.

The result leaves Arsenal U-21s in third place in Group N with three points and behind second-placed Newport on goal difference.

In his three starts for Arsenal’s U-23s in September, the 18-year-old scored a wonderful curling effort against Manchester City, provided an assist against Manchester United and forced an own goal against Chelsea.

Upon signing for Arsenal, Salah-Eddine told the club’s official website: “It feels great to join a massive club like Arsenal. It’s a good environment for me to work on my development and hopefully through the academy I can become a first-team player.

“They first contacted my dad and then I went there for a week just to see what the club is all about, and after that they didn’t really have to say anything. I immediately knew that it was the right club for me.”

The youngster certainly looks as though he has a bright future ahead of him at Arsenal if he continues in this vein.
