Arsenal fans react to William Saliba’s horror moment for Nice
Arsenal fans were left stunned after William Saliba gave away a goal against Rennes on Friday night.
Saliba, currently on loan at OGC Nice, put in a solid performance and was tasked with playing out from the back in the Ligue 1 fixture.
The young centre-back, who has failed to fit in at Arsenal and was subsequently allowed to leave on loan, gave away a goal during Friday night's game.
Saliba tried to play a long ball out from the back while in acres of space at the back, but the ball barely left the ground and was drilled straight at Rennes player Martin Terrier, who took a couple of touches before curling a shot into the top corner.
Luckily for Saliba, his blushes were spared in the second half as Flavius Daniliuc scored a winner for Rennes on the hour mark.
But regardless, Arsenal fans were less than impressed with the defender, considering he will be tasked with playing out from the back once he breaks into the team under Mikel Arteta.
Fans took to social media to react to the incident, with some predicting he won't be able to work his way into the side any time soon.
"Imagine the abuse he'd be getting from Arsenal fans had he done this in the PL? Glad he's out on loan."
"[Jean-Clair] Todibo been playing way better than Saliba ngl [not gonna lie]."
Some, however, reiterated their support for the defender.
