Arsenal fans furious over season ticket decision after 2020/21 failure

Arsenal fans have been left outraged after the club’s hierarchy made the decision to just freeze ticket prices for the 2021/22 season.

The freeze comes after Arsenal failed to get European football for the first time since the 1995/96 season following a Europa League semi-final defeat to former boss Unai Emery's Villarreal.

Having also struggled in the Premier League which saw Mikel Arteta’s side finish eighth, the decision appeared to be a positive one from those in charge at first glance even though Arsenal still hold the highest average season ticket prices in England.

While prices will remain the same, however, fans will only get to watch 21 games due to the lack of European football rather than the previous 26, therefore paying the same amount for fewer matches.

One fan tweeted: “Hang your head in shame Arsenal. Season ticket freeze in price is not a good thing.

“We pay for 26 games with European football built in, there is none this year, it should be reduced not frozen.”

Another fan said: “We are likely to be out of Europe and therefore playing lesser competition. I think a price cut is due, no?”

Do you think Arsenal should have reduced their season ticket prices in light of no European football? Let us know in the comments section.

The Gunners have had a fall from grace both on and off the pitch in recent years with the hierarchy irking fans in numerous ways.

The club made the decision to make 55 club staff redundant in August during the pandemic before trying to form a Super League in April which they back-tracked on with an apology.

Fans directed their anger at American owner Stan Kroenke with huge protests outside the Emirates Stadium only two months ago.

Spotify CEO Daniel Ek is leading the charge to buy the club, but a £2bn takeover is still a long way away, given the Kroenkes do not wish to sell.
