Arsenal fans fume as Man City get penalty after VAR but Gunners denied decision

Arsenal fans have been left fuming after Manchester City were awarded a penalty in their Premier League clash despite their 'blatant' call being waved away in the first half.

Referee Stuart Atwell waved away Arsenal protests in the first half when Ederson appeared to take down Martin Odegaard in the box.

However, after a VAR review, there wasn't deemed to be a clear and obvious error.

In the second half, Granit Xhaka initially wasn't deemed to have fouled Bernardo Silva, but a VAR review awarded the spot-kick.

And the decision has left Arsenal fans fuming on social media as a result.

"Any other team and that’s a penalty against them but it’s Man City and Ederson is a sweeper keeper they’re going to get away with everything," one fan fumed.

Another added: "Xhaka is an idiot, been said numerous times, but it's a very soft penalty! I just don't get how the Ederson one wasn't checked."

"What Klopp complained about last time. Why go to the monitor for the Xhaka tackle and not for the Ederson tackle," a third fumed.

A fourth tweeted: "How is that a penalty on Xhaka and not earlier on Ederson lol. blatant corruption as always."
