Arsenal fan Piers Morgan has issued a transfer demand of Mikel Arteta as the Gunners continue to keep fans waiting on their first arrival of the January window. With mishaps in attack and absentees in the middle of the park, the Spaniard and Edu are believed to be pursuing a striker and a midfielder before the month is out.
Arteta refused to rule out the need for new investment after his side’s humiliating defeat at the hands of Nottingham Forest on Sunday evening.
The Gunners splashed the cash over the summer, and the board may feel more comfortable about putting money in the 39-year-old’s hands in light of their recent upturn in form.
A poor FA Cup defeat aside, Arsenal have put their nightmare start to the campaign behind them, and now appear to be genuine top four contenders.
But to compete with the hoard of cash-rich sides also vying for the coveted Champions League spot, January recruitment could be in order.

Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic has reportedly been top of their wish list for some time, and the 21-year-old supposedly has no intention of signing a renewed deal in Italy.
He was back amongst the goals on Thursday evening, producing a clinical turn and strike during a tough assignment away at Napoli.
That was Vlahovic’s 19th goal of the season, and with Arsenal already impressed by his previous exploits, his latest finish was enough to catch Morgan’s eye too.
Tagging the Arsenal boss in response to the video of his goal on Twitter, he issued the simple demand: “Sign him.”
While Morgan makes the task seem simple, Arsenal may have a job on their hands convincing Vlahovic that the Emirates is the best place to continue his progression given they have no European football to offer this season, and nothing is guaranteed for next campaign either.
But the club’s board are reportedly united in believing that the £58million price-tag, and £150m total package would be worth it given the player’s talent, age and potential.
Amid constant speculation that the striker’s future lies elsewhere, Fiorentina CEO Barone has demanded that the youngster goes public with his next move.
“I had a long conversation with Dusan the other day and I told him we need to understand his path,” he told Sport Mediaset.
“If he wants to stay at Fiorentina, then sign the contract. If he wants to leave, then say so publicly.
“There is talk about Dusan Vlahovic every day now.
“We just want to talk about the squad. We’ve already said so much about him, we expect a response from him and his entourage on what the future holds.
“We have our plans and we are activating those immediately.”
