Arsenal dealt Odegaard blow, Henry recommends £17m ace and Bissouma drops hint
Arsenal are expected to bolster their squad this summer in a bid to return to European competitions next season.
The Gunners suffered a miserable 2020/21 campaign, finishing down in eighth place and missing out on European qualification for the first time since 1996.
Mikel Arteta will be desperate to lift his side up the Premier League table next term, but to do so he will most likely need to undergo a squad revamp in north London.
Reports suggest there could be a number of incomings and outgoings at the Emirates this summer, and Daily Star Sport are on hand with the latest Arsenal transfer developments below.
Odegaard blow
After his impressive loan stint in the second half of the campaign, Arteta is determined for Martin Odegaard to remain at Arsenal for at least another season.
However, he has been dealt a blow in his pursuit of the Real Madrid ace, who recently hinted at a Bernabeu stay by praising newly-appointed boss Carlo Ancelotti.
“It is a coach I know and with whom I had a good relationship when he was last there. In that sense, it is positive," Odegaard told TV 2 Sporten.
“But beyond that, one day has passed, so I do not know too much about what he thinks about things.”
Henry recommends signing
Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has urged his former club to sign Anderlecht midfielder Sambi Lokonga this summer, according to Belgian outlet Voetbal24.
The Gunners are in the market for a new central midfielder following Dani Ceballos' departure, and Lokonga, 21, is said to be on their shortlist.
It is believed Henry, who works as an assistant for the Belgium national team, has personally vouched for the £17million-rated star in discussions with Arsenal chiefs.
Lokonga is regarded one of the most promising youngsters in Belgium after breaking into Anderlecht's senior side three-and-a-half years ago.
Bissouma drops hint
Brighton's Yves Bissouma is another midfielder being linked with a move to Arsenal this summer – and fans have gone into meltdown on social media after the player dropped repeated hints that he is keen to join them.
Bissouma, 24, first took a picture with Gunners ace Nicolas Pepe following his visit to the Emirates on the final day of the 2020/21 campaign.
