Arsenal chiefs are reportedly considering a move for Sheffield United duo Aaron Ramsdale and Sander Berge – despite their finances taking a hit after Granit Xhaka’s move to Roma didn’t materialise.

The 28-year-old was subject to a bid from I Giallorossi.

However despite agreeing personal terms, the Italian side couldn’t match Arsenal’s valuation of £20million.

The Gunners have embarked on a spree this summer, spending over £75million on transfers.

With the arrivals of Ben White, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Nuno Tavares, the north London outfit have addressed key areas.

And according to reports, it appears the Gunners’ are set to continue their spending on the Yorkshire-based pair.

Their interest in the duo had dwindled following unofficial talks with the Blades’ earlier this year.

However, the club have now done a U-turn and look to have reignited their interest.

Ramsdale, 23, travelled to Euro 2020 with England and would likely cost £40m due to his experience at such a young age – a fee which Arsenal have baulked at.

And given Bernd Leno’s shifty form and Runar Runarsson’s departure, there is a void in the goalkeeping department.

And Berge wouldn’t cost much less, with the talented Norwegian playmaker boasting a release clause of £35m.

Despite their desire to move, both players aren’t believed to be pushing for the exit.

It would represent a total outlay of almost £150m with very minimal income for the Gunners.

Chiefs at the Emirates will be looking to better their embarrassing 8th place finish last season.

Yet, with a very clear business model of focusing on youth, boss Mikel Arteta will look to at least gain Europa League qualification.

This season will be the first in 26 years in which Arsenal won’t be in European competition.
