Arsenal consider Kante transfer and hope Chelsea will cash in on star midfielder
Arsenal are considering a shock approach for Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante.
The French midfielder is a key man in Thomas Tuchel's squad. But he has just 12 months remaining on his current Blues deal, is one of the club's top earners and suffered a series of injury setbacks last term.
Mikel Arteta wants more world-class defensive talent in his midfield ranks as he looks to improve on Arsenal's fifth-place finish last term. And with Kante's contract running down, Arsenal are ready to sound out whether Chelsea will cash in now.

Kante, 31, is a hugely experienced campaigner with over 400 professional appearances to his name. He won Premier League titles with Chelsea in 2017 and Leicester in 2016.
Manchester United have also been actively eyeing the veteran midfielder. But Erik ten Hag's top priority remains Barcelona ace Frenkie de Jong.
Kante is currently at home and will miss out on Chelsea's tour of the USA alongside Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
Non-US citizens are not allowed into the country unless they're fully vaccinated and it's understood that neither midfielder meets the entry requirements, which comes as a blow for Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel's preparations ahead of the new campaign as the Blues jet off for their two-week tour.
Both players missed matches last season after catching the virus, with Kante testing positive ahead of Chelsea's crucial trip to Juventus in the Champions League back in September – a match they ended up losing.
At the time, Tuchel refused to disclose Kante's vaccination status but said: "Of course we take actions and then are responsible for them.
"We don't like to lose players. But we are not now angry with N'Golo. We are concerned about him, as we are with any injured players who get a kick in a game."
