Arsenal confirm worrying double injury blow ahead of Leeds United clash
Arsenal will be without both Kieran Tierney and Thomas Partey for Sunday's clash at home to Leeds United.
The club have confirmed the absences of both players on their website, with Tierney's lower leg injury now set to have kept him out for a month.
The Scot last featured in the 3-0 victory over Newcastle in the Premier League on January 18, although Arsenal say he is aiming to return to training with the first-team next week.
After Leeds the Gunners face the first leg of their Europa League last-32 tie against Benfica next Thursday, with the match being held in Rome.
Partey's latest injury is perhaps more troubling after Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta had initially suggested it wasn't too serious.
The Ghana midfielder has made just 13 appearances for the Gunners after joining from Atletico Madrid in the summer, and he went off with a hamstring injury in the second half of the 1-0 defeat at Aston Villa last weekend.
Arsenal haven't put a timescale on Partey's recovery, and say that he will be assessed in the hope that he can return soon.
“He had a muscular injury so we had to take him off," said Arteta after the Villa loss.
“He could not carry on playing. I don't know [how bad it is].
"We will see the extent of the injury. He wasn't feeling well enough to continue playing so we had to take him off."
Both David Luiz and Bernd Leno will return to the Arsenal squad for the Leeds match after they sat out the defeat at Villa through suspension.
The Gunners go into the match behind Leeds in the table, and will need a win to move back into the top half.
