Arsenal were not at the races early on during their clash with Southampton as Aaron Ramsdale' error led to a goal within 30 seconds.
The Gunners' Premier League charge has come under threat by a resurgent Manchester City in recent weeks. And Ramsdale did little to settle their nerves when his error led to Carlos Alcaraz slamming the ball into an open net with less than a minute on the clock.
Southampton, who are rock bottom of the Premier League, were in desperate need of the three points in their quest to avoid the drop. Southampton then doubled their lead, when Theo Walcott rolled back to the years, showing off his speed, to slot past Ramsdale.

One fan joked: "Genius from Ramsdale, can’t bottle a 2-0 lead if we go 1-0 down!"
"Ramsdale copying De Gea’s signature move. My keeper, the trendsetter," a second joked. While a third added: "Ramsdale has photos of De Gea on his wall!"
"Ramsdale said 'I stand with De Gea'. Nah respect to him for his support with the goalkeeper union," a fourth tweeted. While another added: "Classy show of solidarity from Ramsdale toward De Gea there. Applause rings out across a tearful Manchester. The keepers’ brotherhood is special!"

Ramsdale's mistake drew comparisons to David de Gea's howler on Thursday evening – when the Spaniard played a major role in two of Sevilla's goals in Manchester United's Europa League clash.
De Gea had initially been involved in a mix-up with Harry Maguire, allowing Sevilla to take an early lead. Before, late in the second half, he charged off his line to attempt to control the ball, only for it to end up in the path of a Sevilla player, who smashed the ball home.
