Arsenal are in a tight battle to finish inside the top four but a late transfer opportunity in the January window could give them the boost they need. Heading into the short winter break, Arsenal sit sixth in the table and just two points behind Manchester United in fourth.
Realistically, any one of United, West Ham, Arsenal, Tottenham or even Wolves could clinch the final Champions League spot with only four points separating them all.
All are hoping to do some business in the final two days of the transfer window to give themselves the best opportunity to finish in the top four.
Antonio Conte is desperate for new signings while Ralf Rangnick and United continue to be linked with a defensive midfielder.
For the Gunners, their main priority is to find a goalscorer capable of stepping in to replace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Gabon international has been made an outcast by Arteta after another disciplinary issue in December.
Aubameyang hasn’t played any part in Arsenal’s last six league games, which included an impressive four-game winning streak where they scored 14 goals.
But there was a clear lack of firepower in the recent 0-0 draw with Burnley and that sparked increased interest in Dusan Vlahovic.
Arsenal looked to be the frontrunners for his signature at one stage, but Juventus have since swooped in to hijack the deal.
DON’T MISS
Now Arsenal are running out of time to find a ready-made goalscorer capable of stepping in.
Arteta has made a point of targeting young, promising players to be brought into his team.
But signing an experienced forward could be the way forward for the short term and Alvaro Morata could be that man.
While the Spaniard endured a torrid stint at Chelsea, Morata has proven that he can still score goals at the highest level.
And The Times now report that Juventus has ‘offered’ Arsenal the chance to sign Morata until the end of the season.
With Vlahovic completing his move to Turin, Morata will likely see his minutes diminish at Juventus and could jump at the chance to prove his critics wrong in English football.
He’s also proven time and time again to be unselfish in front of goal, instead looking to help those around him also find the net.
Lining up alongside the likes of Emile Smith Rowe, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, that could prove to be the missing piece to Arsenal’s frontline heading into the final stretch of the season.
And Arsenal will need every little edge they can find to land that final Champions League spot ahead of their main rivals.
