Arsenal captain Aubameyang compared to Ozil in damning criticism
Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been compared to Mesut Ozil in a damning criticism.
It comes after his performance against Liverpool where the Gabon international was completely anonymous.
The Reds returned to form with a bang after putting three goals past Mikel Arteta's men at the Emirates.
But it could have been worse for the home side, who looked completely lifeless.
Aubameyang was not the only perpetrator, with several of his team-mates looking either despondent or out on their feet.
However, as club captain many believe that the striker should be leading from the front yet he failed to deliver.
And former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino was particularly scathing of the 31-year-old, insisting he is not a team player.
He even compared him to former Gunners star Ozil, who was allowed to sign for Fenerbahce in January after failing to impress Arteta.
He told talkSPORT: “Aubameyang was nearly playing behind Tierney.
“He does frustrate me anyway because I do think he’s one of those players where I look at him and think ‘your numbers, are they an illusion?’ Because that is the only argument.
“He reminds me of a second [Mesut] Ozil where it’s going. He’s 31 years old, he’s 32 in June.

“I remember having a conversation about Aubameyang and the only debate and why you always get concerned about being critical of him, his numbers tell you he’s a great striker and gets lots of goals.
"But to me I just don’t see a team player there. I just don’t.”
Aubameyang did not finish the match against Liverpool and was taken off for Gabriel Martinelli, perhaps with the Europa League in mind.
Arsenal face Slavia Prague in the next round, who have already taken the scalps of Rangers and Leicester.
Though the Gunners have come through their rounds with integrity after knocking out Benfica and Olympiacos.
