Arsenal and Spurs 'interested in Bayer Leverkusen star Patrik Schick'

Arsenal and Tottenham are ‘interested in a swoop for Bayer Leverkusen striker Patrik Schick’ as both clubs hunt for a new forward, with in-form star a ‘cheaper replacement’ for wantaway Fiorentina ace Dusan Vlahovic

  • Patrik Schick is reportedly a target for top-flight rivals Arsenal and Tottenham
  • Schick is the second-highest scorer in the Bundesliga, ahead of Erling Haaland
  • He is said to be seen as a cheaper alternative to Fiorentina ace Dusan Vlahovic

Arsenal and Tottenham are interested in Bayer Leverkusen striker Patrik Schick as a replacement for Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic, according to new reports.

Both Premier League clubs are said to be on the hunt for a new forward, and have been linked to Vlahovic – who is also wanted a host of other elite sides.

However, it has since been suggested that his wage demands may price him out of either move, opening the door for them to move for Schick.

90min have claimed that the two sides view the frontman as a cheaper alternative to Vlahovic, who is thought to be among their primary targets.

While there has been no indication over Schick’s price tag, Transfermarkt has valued him at £36millin. The likes of Manchester City and West Ham are all keeping tabs.

It comes as little surprise that the Czech Republic talisman is attracting admiring glances, with the ace having netted 16 times in the Bundesliga this season.

Sensationally, that has placed him three goals ahead of Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland in the scoring charts.

Schick memorably hit a wonder strike for his country against Scotland at Euro 2020, lobbing goalkeeper David Marshall from inside his own in breath-taking fashion.

However, it is likely he will remain a back-up target for Arsenal and Spurs.

Vlahovic has rejected a money-spinning contract extension at his current club, opening the door his potential suitors to attempt to secure him next summer.

Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has previously claimed that Spurs have an advantage, though, despite Vlahovic’s reported price tag of over £70m.

Speaking to Wettfreunde, Di Marzio said: ‘It depends on which project, how much money is he being given.

‘Arsenal, for example, his agents do not want to speak to them.

They think Arsenal is not enough for him and his career. They think that Tottenham or Man City or Man Utd are more [of a] fit for him.’

The Daily Star reported that his wage demands might prove a stumbling block, with Vlahovic said to be desperate to earn over £200,000-per-week for his next move.
