Arsenal and Dortmund are handed a boost in pursuit of Ivan Fresneda
Arsenal and Dortmund handed huge boost in their pursuit of Real Valladolid wonderkid Ivan Fresneda after ‘his release clause is HALVED following relegation from LaLiga’… with the 18-year-old ‘now available for just £17m’

Real Valladolid’s relegation from LaLiga could carry with it a double blow to their prospects, with star defender Ivan Fresneda now available for a cut-price fee as a result.
The Spanish youth international had only featured once in the Segunda Division before Valladolid’s promotion into the top-flight last term, but has become a regular feature this season.
His impressive performances in the league and Copa Del Rey have not gone unnoticed, with the likes of Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund – among many others – interested in procuring his services over the summer.
Fresneda was set to earn the relegated side a fee of around £34.5million (€40m), but has been slashed after Valladolid fell into the second division after just one year in LaLiga.
As a result, potential suitors could snap up the 18-year-old – who revealed he has been learning German and English – for as little as £17.2m (€20m).

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are thought to be among the leaders in the race to sign the 18-year-old
Edin Terzic and Borussia Dortmund are also reportedly monitoring Fresneda’s ongoing situation
Fresneda is under contract until 2025, having only put pen to paper on his current deal last summer, with that contract including a number of performance-based clauses.
One of those in fact stipulated that after making as many appearances as he managed in 2022-23 in the league – 22 – his price would be set at £34.5m, only for the heartbreak of demotion to cut that figure by half, as per Radio MARCA.
In Arsenal and Dortmund, Fresneda would appear to have captivated the attentions of two of the most exciting, young teams in Europe, but the interest of some of the continent’s traditional giants is nothing new to him.
Starting his career in the Real Madrid academy, and having played only six games was already courting the interests of Italian sides Juventus, AC Milan and Inter.
However, it was Bournemouth that came closest to signing the youngster this season, according to reports.
Yet a combination of Valladolid’s eye-watering valuation and the player’s unwillingness to leave ended a potential January loan deal.
Fresneda – a right back by trade but also able to play at centre back or in midfield – had won just one game by the start of March, but seemingly possessed enough potential to entice some of the game’s richest clubs.
Although he was reportedly unwilling to join Bournemouth halfway through the season with his side in a precarious position, he has also been vocal of his desire to join a club fighting for some of the more prestigious honours in the game.

‘My agent keeps me very much on the sidelines. I don’t really like to look at what a journalist might have written, but I’ve lived everything with a lot of emotion,’ explained Fresneda, in an interview with The Athletic.
‘I’m very grateful to the club, to the previous manager, and I’m trying to handle it as naturally as possible.
‘I’m very young, I have to go step by step, not go backwards. Being the age I am, you have to keep improving and I’m doing that at Valladolid.
‘Everyone would like to go to the best teams in the world and that is one of my ambitions, of course.’
